* As expected, Anderson Varejao rejoined the team in Atlanta, but is questionable for tonight's game with a sprained AC joint.
* Hawks GM Danny Ferry caused quite a stir recently when he said, "Our goal is not to be the eighth seed." Critics tore into him as tanking, when in reality, the Hawks' injuries have crippled their chances at competing. They were the third-best team in the East prior to Al Horford going down, so the talent is there. But when the injuries hit, the Hawks refocused. If they make the playoffs, fine. If they don't, it's not the end of the world. They've made the playoffs six consecutive seasons with not much to show for it.
* The same is not true of the Cavs, obviously, who are trying hard to get in. Tonight's game is huge in that regard. But as Mike Brown continues to insist, they're all huge at this point.
