Notes
* Joey Graham is officially in as the Cavs' starting small forward and Jamario Moon is out. Byron Scott announced the change at this morning's shootaround. Scott likes Graham's post moves at the position and his aggressiveness at both ends of the floor.
* Scott spent the morning reflecting on his two years with the Pacers near the end of his career, when he mentored a young Reggie Miller and really embraced the idea of someday being a coach. Larry Brown told him he would coach someday, which followed when Pat Riley told him the same thing about a decade earlier. After Brown mentioned it is when Scott started to take the idea seriously. Previously, he rejected the thought of coaching when Riley mentioned it to him.
* He also recalled how he told his wife he was going to retire from basketball. They were out golfing in Los Angeles one summer after he had played overseas. Around the 10th hole, he turned to Anita and said "I think I'm going to retire." Stunned, she asked if that's something they should discuss. He said no, he had made up his mind. She asked when he had decided that. "About the seventh hole," he said. And that was it. Scott retired and never looked back.
* Now his son, Thomas, is following in Dad's footsteps. Thomas is working as an assistant with the Cavs while trying to gain his footing on a career in the NBA.
