Notebook
* There is some bad blood brewing between these division rivals and something worth watching tonight. Tristan Thompson and Tyler Hansbrough had to be separated in the first meeting after Thompson caught Hansbrough's younger brother, Ben, with an errant elbow. Then Tyler and Daniel Gibson were jawing with each other during the second meeting because Gibson said he's tired of Hansbrough's tough guy act. Then last week, Gibson accused Paul George of picking up a couple dirty tricks from former teammate Dahntay Jones.
* Gibson ripped Jones for his "dirty play" in stepping under Kobe Bryant's landing area last week and said Jones is known for such things. He thinks Jones taught that move to George, because Gibson landed on George's foot following a shot last year that tore a tendon in Gibson's foot and ended his season.
* The moral to the story? Stay tuned tonight. There are sure to be more fireworks in the Hansbrough-Gibson-George-Thompson quadrangle.
* The Pacers have lost three of their last four and four of their last six. They are still without Danny Granger, who has battled a knee problem all season. The Indianapolis Star reported today that Granger has been cleared to resume basketball activities, but he won't play tonight.
* David West is a game time decision tonight with a back injury, according to the Indianapolis Star. West sprained his lower back in Saturday's loss to the Sixers, the Star's Mike Wells wrote today.
* He's not Kyrie, but Shaun Livingston has filled in admirably in place of Irving. Livingston has scored in double figures in each of his six starts with the Cavs and is averaging 13.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists and shooting 55 percent as a starter. He's also averaging about 34 minutes, which is a tick higher than coach Byron Scott would like.
* The Cavs are in the midst of a difficult stretch. Beginning with Saturday's loss at San Antonio, the Cavs will play five consecutive opponents likely headed to the playoffs. The Spurs, Pacers and Miami Heat (Wednesday's opponent) all have winning percentages above .600. And the Cavs will be doing all of this without their two best players (Irving and Varejao). In the famous words of Marko from Taken, "Good luck."
