NOTES
* Omri Casspi will play tonight, but coach Byron Scott hasn't determined yet how many minutes and whether or not he'll start. Casspi has been hampered by a sore knee and still wears a protective sleeve on it during games.
* The condensed preseason has made it more difficult on the coaching staff to prepare for the season. Scott said in a typical eight-game preseason, the final couple of games are used to set the rotation for the beginning of the year. But he'll treat this for what it is, the second preseason game, meaning some guys will sit so he can get an extended look at others.
* The Cavs and Pistons are getting awfully cozy with each other. Tonight is their second game in less than a week, plus the Cavs travel back to Detroit again next week during the regular season. It will provide plenty of matchups between Kyrie Irving and the Pistons' Brandon Knight, the top two point guards taken in the draft last summer. The Cavs brought in Knight for a workout, but ultimately chose Irving first overall. "Kyrie is definitely a true point guard," Scott said. "I think Brandon has the ability to be a true point guard, but I think it's something he has to learn, it doesn't come natural for him."
* Scott said he feels good about the top eight guys in his rotation. He would like to play nine guys and 10 at the most. My best guess at the top eight right now would be Kyrie Irving, Anthony Parker, Casspi, Antawn Jamison, Anderson Varejao, Ramon Sessions, Tristan Thompson and either Alonzo Gee or Samardo Samuels. Scott said his list didn't include Semih Erden, who is out with a thumb injury. Erden will be in that top rotation when he's healthy.
