Don't read anything into J.J. Hickson not starting. Byron Scott is using these first couple of games to just get some eyes and film on all the players.

"Just trying to get to know guys," Scott said. "Thursday will be a totally different lineup. I'm just trying to get a bunch of guys a bunch of minutes."

With 19 players currently on the roster, Scott prefers to play about 10 to 12 guys so that they can get at least 20 minutes on the floor. Those who don't play tonight will play Thursday against Washington. He would rather do it that way than try to cram the entire roster on the floor and only give guys seven or eight minutes each.

Winning, at least tonight, is not a priority.

"We've got a bunch of guys where who are used to winning. I don't think preseason is one of those things we look at right now that we have to win games," Scott said. "The biggest thing for us is to improve and keep going forward."
