Kyrie Irving had 21 points, six rebounds and five turnovers in his NBA debut and Tristan Thompson had eight points, four rebounds and two blocks in the Cavs' 91-86 win over the Detroit Pistons in the preseason opener.
Irving did not start, but entered with two minutes left in the first quarter. He played the entire second quarter and fourth quarter, making 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute to clinch the win.
Thompson picked up four fouls in 11 minutes in the first half, but settled down in the fourth quarter to score eight points, grab a pair of rebounds and block two shots.
Samardo Samuels had 15 points and seven rebounds and made two key defensive stops in the fourth quarter. Antawn Jamison had 13 points and six rebounds, but was 5 of 14 shooting.
