Report: Cavs nearing agreement with Miles on two-year deal
The Cavaliers are nearing a deal with free agent small forward C.J. Miles on a two-year contract, the Salt Lake Tribune reported. A league source confirmed talks are ongoing, and a second source said the deal is not complete.
Miles, however, tweeted a picture of the Cavs' logo Friday afternoon along with the message "Excited .. Ready and most importantly BLESSED.."
Miles, 25, spent his first seven seasons with the Utah Jazz, posting career averages of 8.4 points and 2.2 rebounds. He averaged 9.1 points and 2.1 rebounds last season.
Miles’ addition is an intriguing twist to ongoing talks between the Cavaliers and restricted free agent Alonzo Gee. The Cavs have offered Gee a qualifying offer, but the sides have struggled to reach an agreement on a long-term deal.
Gee’s agent, Andre Buck, said Gee would be fine signing the one-year tender if the two sides can’t agree on a longer deal. Gee would then be an unrestricted free agent following the 2012-13 season.
The Cavaliers cannot retract the qualifying offer without Gee’s consent, Buck said.
