Reports: West arrested on gun charges
Numerous media outlets are reporting that Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West was arrested on multiple gun charges around 10 p.m. Thursday night near his offseason home in Prince George's County Maryland.
West was driving his three-wheeled motorcycle north on Interstate 95 near Route 214 when he cut off a marked patrol car, according to the Washington Post.
After being pulled over West informed the cop that he had a gun in his waist band. Upon a search he was reportedly found to have another handgun strapped to his leg and a shotgun concealed in a guitar case slung across his back, per the report.
He is charged with speeding and two counts of possession of a handgun, according to the Washington Post.
UPDATE 5:17: Akron Beacon Journal beat writer George Thomas just passed along this statement from Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry:
“We are aware of the situation and take this matter very seriously. We have been in communication with Delonte and his family. We are gathering more information and will not have further comment until the appropriate time."
