Saturday post-practice notes
The Cavs waived center Greg Stiemsma Saturday after practice.
Byron Scott has penciled in Anderson Varejao as his starting center. He has J.J. Hickson as his 4, leaving Antawn Jamison as a question mark. He'll either start at the 3 or serve as the sixth man, but Scott said he hasn't decided yet.
"We haven't sat down yet and had that type of conversation, but we probably will," Scott said. "I want to make sure he's comfortable with whatever role we want to do."
Scott brought the players back on Saturday for a scrimmage after working them twice on Friday. He brought out officials and everything.
He was a little bit happier with how they played Saturday than he was in Friday's Wine & Gold scrimmage. Scott at times as hinted he was upset with how the players are grasping the Princeton, but Saturday finally relented and said they're about where they should be.
"You're still going to have these guys thinking about what they should be doing instead of just reacting for probably another week," he said. "They're understanding what we want done, they're just at times holding onto the ball because they're not sure. That's the part we have to get rid of, that uncertainty. Once we get rid of that, things will start flowing a lot better."
