Varejao a late scratch with sore knee
OAKLAND, Calif.: Anderson Varejao was a late scratch and is inactive for tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors.
Varejao has swelling in his right knee after he collided with former teammate Ryan Hollins in the Cavs' win over the Clippers on Monday. Varejao finished the game, but his knee has been stiff the past couple of days, so the Cavs scratched him.
Samardo Samuels started at forward and Tristan Thompson shifted to center in his place. Jon Leuer was expected to see minutes off the bench.
Varejao is averaging 14 points and 15 rebounds. The loss of he and Tyler Zeller leaves the Cavs incredibly thin in the frontcourt.
"We're losing not only two of our best players, but we're losing a lot of our size as well," Scott said. "We just have to have other guys come in and pick up the slack for all the things that both of those guys brought to the table."
