Without Irving, Cavs lose ninth straight in 107-98 loss to Bucks
MILWAUKEE: Anthony Parker matched his career high with 27 points, but the Cavs fell behind by 19 in the first half and couldn't recover to lose their ninth straight, 107-98 to the Milwaukee Bucks in a game they played without Kyrie Irving.
The Cavs missed 19 shots from 3 feet and in, a big reason why they couldn't win despite chopping the big deficit down to six on four separate occasions in the game's final 3 1/2 minutes.
Every time the Cavs pulled within six, Monta Ellis hit another big basket to stave off the comeback. Ellis scored 30 points, including the Bucks' final 12, to hand the Cavs their 12th loss in their last 13 games.
The Bucks have won seven straight over the Cavs and swept the season series for the first time since the 2002-03 season.
Irving was left behind to have another MRI on his ailing right shoulder, which he reinjured Tuesday when he ran into a screen set by San Antonio's DeJuan Blair. The Cavs will shut down Irving for a couple of days and keep him out of the lineup for seven to 10 days, but with only three weeks left, there is no guarantee Irving even returns this season.
Cavs coach Byron Scott ackowledged before the game he has already considered pulling the plug on Irving's rookie season, but will give him the next week to receive treatment on the shoulder before making a final decision. At this point, however, Scott wishes he never would've rushed Irving back into the lineup Tuesday to face the Spurs.
"I regret putting him out there in that situation,” Cavs coach Byron Scott said. "We’re going to be a lot more cautious the second time around, no matter how long it takes."
