CLEVELAND: Tyler Zeller will make his first start tonight in the Cavs' preseason finale against the Indiana Pacers. Alonzo Gee has also been reinserted into the starting lineup, while C.J. Miles and Tristan Thompson will come off the bench.
"It lets all these young guys know that there are two spots that are taken: Kyrie and Andy," Cavs coach Byron Scott said. "The other three are still up for grabs. That still is true right now."
Zeller has played a little better and said he feels a little more comfortable in recent games, but he'll face a huge test tonight in Roy Hibbert, who went to the All-Star game last year.
"That's why I put him up," Scott said. "I think it'll be fun."
Scott is trying to strike a balance between the starters and the bench so production doesn't plummet when the starters leave the game. Last season, he was almost forced to leave either Irving or Antawn Jamison on the court at all times, otherwise the Cavs struggled to score at all. He is hoping to avoid that this season.
Scott hasn't decided on his starting lineup for the regular season. It remains to be seen if tonight's shakeup is a one-time change or if it will carry into next week.
