4-5-09 Morning Roundup

By jcfortun Published: April 5, 2009

With just one day before the season starts, The Beacon Journal decided today would be the best day to disperse its season preview section.

For the casual fan it offers a chance to get caught up on all the happenings before the season begins. For the more educated fan, its a regurgitation of all the information we have been reading the last 50 days from Goodyear, Arizona.

So without further ado, here are the links to the the previews:

Sheldon Ocker -- Breaking down the roster position by position.

Sheldon Ocker -- Well, he breaks down the roster again, but this time in a different format. Story form! and with more of a season prospectus tone.

Sheldon Ocker -- Mark Shapiro's thoughts on the upcoming season.

Sheldon Ocker -- Team-by-team Power rankings. The Yankees are No.1? Surprised?

Patrick McManamon -- The deep farm system gives the Indians options.

Plain Dealer beat writer Paul Hoynes also had a bit of preview material. Hoynes broke down every pitcher on the staff, complete with the pitches most of them throw and how hard they throw them.

He also answered his mailbag and offered Shapiro's insights on this season.

Terry Pluto gave some of his predictions: Fausto Carmona will win more than Cliff Lee, he writes. Same with Anthony Reyes over Carl Pavano. beat writer Anthony Castrovince broke down the roster as well, noting its versatility. Choo is also being caught up to speed, he wrote.
