NEW YORK: Manny Acta told reporters after Sunday's 9-1 loss to the Yankees that he had more tricks ""up my sleeve.''
Turns out the Indians manager was telling the truth. This is the lineup that Acta concocted for tonight's game against New York:
DH -- Grady Sizemore
1B -- Carlos Santana
CF -- Michael Brantley
SS -- Asdrubal Cabrera
RF -- Shin-Soo Choo
LF -- Travis Buck
2B -- Cord Phelps
3B -- Jack Hannahan
C -- Lou Marson
""I felt something had to be done,'' Acta said this afternoon. ""We've averaged less than three runs a game for the last 18. Those two guys (Cabrera, Brantley) have been our most consistent hitters the last two months, so they should be in the middle of the lineup. Santana has the opportunity to contribute with his on-base percentage.
""I talked to these guys. I don't expect them to change their approach, because they are only going to bat third or fourth the first time around.''
How long will this lineup last? Probably not long.
""Give it a few days,'' Acta said. ""The lineup will change once (Travis) Hafner gets back and Choo gets going.''
Hafner, on the DL with a strained oblique, will begin a rehabilitation assignment in Akron today, but how long it will last nobody knows.
""If Travis wakes up tomorrow, he's going to Akron,'' Acta said. ""We don't have a set amount of at-bats or days. It will be up to Hafner. he's been around long enough to know when he's ready.''
