Aeros and Reading rained out; will play two Thursday morning

By sstorm Published: May 27, 2009

The Aeros game Wednesday night against visiting Reading (Philadelphia Phillies) was suspended due to inclement weather with two outs in the top of the third inning at Canal Park.

The Aeros led 1-0 on a Nick Weglarz lead-off home run to right field in the bottom of the second inning.

Wednesday's game is scheduled to pick up where it left off today at 10:35 a.m., and be played through nine innings with each team's bullpen finishing up the action on the mound.

For Akron, right-hander Josh Judy is a good candidate to "start" in Game One, having just been activated from the disabled list after recovering from a strained forearm. Judy, the Tribe's 34th-round pick in the 2007 draft, is 0-1 with with two saves and a 7.00 ERA in seven relief outings.

The Aeros and R-Phils will then take about a 20-minute break before heading back out onto the field to play a second, seven-inning game. In the nightcap, Aeros left-hander Ryan Edell (1-0, 2.57 ERA) is slated to face Phillies left-hander Gustavo Chacin.

Chacin, who joined Reading from Extended Spring Training last Friday, originally signed a minor-league contract with the Washington Nationals in the off season. But after being released by the Nationals, the former major leaguer signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.
