Aeros lose championship title to Trenton for the second consecutive year

By sstorm Published: September 14, 2008

Hi all. This will a real quick post - for a good reason I will explain later.

In the meantime, just wanted all of the Aeros faithful fans to know the season has come to a close. The Aeros lost to the host Thunder 5-1 in the Eastern League Game 4 of the best-of-five Championship Series Sunday night at Waterfront Park.

Once again the Aeros offense continued to struggle, managing only a Matt Whitney solo home run in the fifth inning that briefly tied the game, 1-1.

The Thunder broke open the close game with a four-run sixth inning that included just two hits. Still, Trenton sent nine men to the plate with the aid of two errors by Josh Rodriguez at shortstop, two walks (one intentional) and a wild pitch.

Akron finishes the season 80-63, going 4-4 in the two playoff rounds against Bowie and Trenton.
