KANSAS CITY, Mo.: Michael Brantley suffered an injury when he slapped a ground ball to the shortstop in the ninth inning of the Indians' 7-3 win over the Royals at Kauffman Stadium Thursday night.
The Tribe center fielder could not even get out of the batter's box and run to first. After he fell in a heap at the plate, he was examined by the training staff and had to be helped off the field.
""He twisted his (left) ankle, and he's getting X-rays as we speak,'' manager Manny Acta said shortly after the game.
A few hours later, word came from the Tribe that Brantley's X-rays were negeative, and he is day-to-day with an ankle sprain.
