Vinnie Pestano's troubles continued. He gave up a monster home run in the ninth inning to Xavier Nady and then gave up a triple and a single, as the Padres made it 8-6 and brought the tying run to the plate.

John Axford came on to record the final out.

Through six innings: Indians 8, Padres 3

Jedd Gyorko drove in his third run of the game with a single to left field to score Will Venable, who doubled, to make it 6-3.

Murphy's big night continues. After Gomes doubled in the sixth, Murphy followed with a double of his own to give the Tribe a 7-3 lead. Nyjer Morgan then singled him home.

Through five innings: Indians 6, Padres 2

The Padres made it 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning when second baseman Jedd Gyorko ripped a double to left-center field.

In the bottom half of the fourth, the Indians struck again, as David Murphy hit his first home run since joining the team, a three-run shot to right field, to give the Tribe a 6-2 lead.

Through three innings: Indians 3, Padres 0

Yan Gomes and David Murphy each walked to start the third inning. Nyjer Morgan then reached on a throwing error by Padres second baseman Jedd Gyorko, which allowed Gomes to score. Nick Swisher's hard ground ball to the right side allowed Murphy to score. And Jason Kipnis then got Morgan home with a sacrifice fly to left field.

Against Corey Kluber, the Padres have had the lead runner on base in all three innings but haven't been able to bring him home.
