By Sheldon Ocker Published: April 26, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo.: Carlos Carrasco’s elbow/forearm was struck by a batted ball during the fifth inning of his start for Columbus against Scranton Wilkes-Barre Thursday night.

After being examined after the incident and again Friday morning, doctors determined that Carrasco has a deep bruise and is day-to-day.

Asked if Carrasco would make his next start, manager Terry Francona said, “”He’s OK, but I don’t know about that. I got an email , and the doctors said it was a bruise, which is great.’’

Asdrubal Cabrera returned to the lineup after missing Wednesday’s game in Chicago with a slight quad strain.

Two days earlier, he fell down the steps of the dugout and jammed his wrist, missing the next game. Cabrera suffered the quad injury stealing second in the eighth inning of Tuesday night’s game against the White Sox.

Tonight's game agaainst the Royals is being delayed by rain. Odds are 50-50 that the game will be played.
