Chisenhall among latest cuts

By Sheldon Published: March 14, 2011

GOODYEAR, ARIZ.: The Indians trimmed seven more players from big-league camp, including third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall.

Right-hander Zach McAllister and outfielder Nick Weglarz were optioned to Columbus; right-handers Zach Putnam and Alex White, catcher Juan Apodaca, second baseman Jason Kipnis and Chisenhall were reassigned to the minor-league camp.

Chisenhall has been the brightest light of exhibition season for the Indians, batting .478 with two doubles, one triple and two home runs in 23 at-bats. After a few months of seasoning at Triple-A, it is believed that he will take over the third base job for the Tribe. Kipnis is considered the heir apparent at second.
