ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.: Shin-Soo Choo has been in Cleveland getting treatment on his sprained right thumb. Apparently, the methods being used are working.
""Pretty soon he's going back to visit Dr. (Tom) Graham and begin to grip a bat,'' manager Manny Acta said. ""Things are progressing faster than we expected. If everything continues the way it is right now, he's going to be coming back sooner than we anticipated.''
Acta said that there was a possibility Choo could rejoin the team by the end of July.
Travis Hafner was not in the lineup today, but the tightness in his upper back (left side) had subsided.
""He's better today,'' Acta said. ""He got treatment and felt better, but unless were is an emergency, we're not using him. He was scheduled to be off today, anyway.''
