Major League Baseball sent out the following statment Thursday afternoon after reviewing video from Tuesday's near-fight in Boston:

"Major League Baseball has issued discipline to six players and a coach stemming from the on-field incident that occurred in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s game between the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Indians third base coach Steve Smith has received a two-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his inappropriate and aggressive actions during the incident. Smith is scheduled to begin serving his suspension tonight, when the two clubs continue their series in Boston.

Six players have been fined undisclosed amounts as a result of the incident: Cleveland’s Jensen Lewis and Boston’s Josh Beckett, Mike Cameron, Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis. Cameron, Ellsbury, Pedroia and Youkilis, all of whom were on the disabled list on Tuesday, came onto the field during the incident."
