Francona takes blame for Allen's poor outing; Carrasco away on personal matter

CLEVELAND: Manager Terry Francona took the blame for Cody Allen giving up a two-run homer in the Indians’ 4-3 win over the Royals Monday night.

“”I probably should take his earned runs from last night,’’ Francona said today. “”He’s pitched a lot lately. He was trying to reach back for something extra and lost his location.’’

Allen pitched in eight of the Tribe’s past 11 games, giving up five runs in 52/3 innings.

“”I think I made a mistake last night,’’ Francona said. “”We’re going to need him in leverage situations to put out fires.’’

Allen has made 67 appearances, working 63 innings, more outings and innings than any other Indians reliever.

Carlos Carrasco has left the team to take care of a family issue. He will join the team in Chicago when the Tribe begins a six-game trip against the White Sox and Royals.
