Pregame Notes:

ALL EYES ON CARLOS –Converted catcher Carlos Santana is scheduled to make his spring debut at third base today. Although he played third base throughout winter ball, Indians manager Terry Franconasaid he hopes the game doesn’t speed up Santana.

“For his own sake, I hope the game doesn’t speed up and nothing crazy happens,” Francona said. “Knowing baseball, it’ll be something like a triple-play or something. But because there’s going to be such a microscope on him, the best thing I can do is help take it off. Let the kid play. I mean, Lonnie (Chisenhall) didn’t make a play (he should have Wednesday). If Santana does that today, it’ll be because he was a catcher. So we need to just be realistic.”

TODAY’S TRIBE ORDER –After Masterson, the following Tribe pitchers are scheduled to throw today against the Reds: Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Tyler Cloyd, David Aardsma, Josh Outman, Blake Wood and Mike Zagurski.

WEEK’S WORTH OF STARTERS -Upcoming Tribe starters for the next week are right-hander Zach McAllister (Friday verus Cincinnati Reds), right-hander Trevor Bauer (Saturday at Chicago White Sox), Masterson (Sunday versus Seatlle Mariners), Kluber (Monday at Texas Rangers), McAllister (Tuesday versus White Sox), right-hander Aaron Harang (Wednesday at Seattle Mariners).

MORE PITCHING PROBABLES– Reliever Vinnie Pestano is finally slated to make his first Cactus League appearance Monday…Fellow right-handed reliever Frank Herrmann (coming off Tommy John elbow ligament replcement surgery) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Monday, as well.

“Vinnie’s dong well,” Francona said of the eighth-inning set-up man who lost his job last year and was sent back to the minors. “His last three bullpens have been really encouraging, not just from Vinnie, but from who’s watchig him.”
