Indians bring back catcher Luke Carlin on a minor-league deal

By Stephanie Storm Published: January 24, 2014

The Indians today signed free-agent catcher Luke Carlin to a minor-league contract with a non-roster invitation to major league spring training camp.

Carlin, 33, returned to the organization after spending three seasons between Triple-A Columbus and Cleveland during the 2010-12 seasons. Over that span, he played 10 games with the big league club.

Carlin spent last season in the Los Angeles organization at the Triple-A level. With the Salt Lake Bees he hit .230 with eight doubles, four home runs and 29 RBI in 77 games.

A veteran of 12 minor-league seasons since 2002, Carlin has appeared in 56 Major League games over parts of four seasons with the San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks and Indians.
