Indians Down on the Farm

Here's how the Tribe's minor league teams fared Wednesday:

Triple-A Columbus (21-5) - The Clippers enjoyed a scheduled day off...Columbus owns the best record in the entire minor league system…During their current 13-game winning streak, the Clippers have outscored their opponents 103-44…They lead the International League in hits (259), batting average (.294), runs scored (166), RBI (154), slugging percentage (.461), on-base perentage (.388) and walks (128).

Double-A Akron (13-13) - The Aeros topped host Altoona 6-3...With the game knotted at 3-3, 1B MATT MCBRIDE hit a solo homerun in the seventh inning, going 2-for-4 with two RBI...LHP NICK HAGADONE (2-0, 0.00 ERA) picked up the win after tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings and limiting the Curve to just three hits...LHP T.J. MCFARLAND (1-0, 3.21 ERA) started the game, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out four...RHP CORY BURNS secured his eighth save by striking out the side in the ninth inning...INF KYLE BELLOWS doubled and scored a run.

High Class-A Kinston (10-15) - After rain suspended the initial game Tuesday night, Kinston went on to defeat first-place Salem 5-1, with the aid of a three-run fifth inning...LHP T.J. HOUSE (1-3, 4.57 ERA) allowed an unearned run early on, but went on to pick up his first win of the season after allowing just one hit, issuing four walks and striking out four over six innings...CF ABNER ABREU went 2-4 with a double and two RBI...INF DANIEL DEGEORGE went 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI...RHP's and relievers TYLER STURDEVANT and ADAM MILLER combined to pitch 2 2/3 scoreless innings to seal the win.

Low Class-A Lake County (15-12) - The Captains cruised to a 4-0 shutout victory over visiting Bowling Green at Classic Park...LHP MIKE RAYL (3-0, 2.08 ERA) and RHP JORDAN COOPER (0-1, 6.75 ERA) combined to pitch the teams second consecutive one-hitter at Classic Park...Rayl started the game and struck out a career-high 11 batters in seven strong innings in which he allowed just one hit - a single in the sixth inning - and did not walk a batter to notch his third win of the season...Cooper added two two scoreless innings of relief...OF TYLER CANNON went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk...C ALEX LAVISKY had two hits and RBI...INF ARGENIS MARTINEZ doubled, scored a run and drove in anotherd...INF GIOVANNY URSHELA contributed two hits in the game.
