Triple-A Columbus (70-42) - The host Clippers used three home runs to capture their fifth consecutive game in a 5-2 victory over Syracuse in Game One of their four-game set at Huntington Park...INF LUIS VALBUENA started the home run theme with a solo homer in the fourth inning to put the game’s first run on the board...Syracuse responded with two runs in the top of the fifth inning but their lead did not last long...In the bottom of the frame, INF CORD PHELPS smashed a two-run homer to put Columbus on top for good...1B BEAU MILLS also added a two-run homer in the seventh inning for extra insurance...RHP JOSH JUDY tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his 16th save of the year... RHP JOE MARTINEZ(7-5, 4.05 ERA) picked up the win after allowing only two earned runs on five hits and a walk, while fanning six batters in 6 2/3 innings. 

Double-A Akron (58-54) - The Aeros got off to a big lead with a huge sixth inning and never looked back as they went on to sweep the three-game set with host Trenton in a 7-4 win at Waterfront Park... After C CHUN CHEN got things started with a two-run homer in the fourt inning, the Aeros added four more runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles from 3B KYLE BELLOWS and OF JORDAN HENRY, a RBI double from DH NICK WEGLARZ  and a wild pitch thrown by Trenton’s LHP BRAD HALSEY...Trenton rallied back with four runs, but it wasn’t enough...RHP PAOLO ESPINO (5-0, 2.61 ERA) picked up the win after tossing five scoreless innings, scattering four hits, no walks and striking out six...RHP TYLER STURDEVANT closed out the game to record his first Double-A save of 2011...SS JUAN DIAZ went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. As a team, the Aeros stole a season-high five bases.

High Class-A Kinston (20-18 in 2nd half) - The K-Tribe’s offense put together several good at-bats when it counted and with the help of solid pitching, the Indians topped Myrtle Beach 3-2...LHP MIKE RAYL (0-1, 3.97 ERA) made his second start with Kinston, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings. Rayl gave up two runs in the first inning, but shut out the Pelicans the rest of the way... OF DELVI CID went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base...INF ARGENIS MARTINEZ went 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and a RBI...RHP TORU MURATA (1-2, 3.08 ERA) earned the win in 1 2/3 perfect innings of relief...RHP PRESTON GUILMET (1-1, 1.99 ERA) recorded his 28th save of the season, contributing an inning of scoreless relief and walking just one batter.

Low Class-A Lake County (17-22 in 2nd half) - The Captains got a quality start from its pitching staff, but the offense could not put a run on the board in a 1-0 loss to Great Lakes...RHP FELIX STERLING (2-1, 2.20 ERA) allowed one run on two hits and seven walks, striking out five in his third start for the Captains...OF LUIGI RODRIGUEZ went 1-for-1 with three walks and a stolen base...OF BRIAN HEERE went 2-for-4, but the Captains left nine men on base in the game.

Short-season Mahoning Valley (28-19) - The Scrappers needed just one big inning in a 4-0 victory over first-place Staten Island...RHP WILL ROBERTS (1-1, 2.18 ERA) picked up the win after not allowing a run in six innings of one-hit baseball...Mahoning Valley’s bullpen followed Roberts’ lead as RHP CODY ALLEN (3-1, 2.14 ERA) and RHP ENOSIL TEJEDA (2-2, 4.18 ERA) combined to toss three scoreless innings of relief...OF CODY ELLIOTT’S three-run home run highlighted the Scrappers four-run sixth inning...DH JAKE LOWERY went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and RBI...OF JOHN BARR went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
