The Indians placed shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera on the disabled list today with a right quadriceps strain, and they recalled infielder Juan Diaz from Triple-A Columbus.

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:
Placed INF ASDRUBAL CABRERA on the 15-day Disabled List with a right quadriceps strain.
Recalled INF JUAN DIAZ (#35)from AAA Columbus.
Cabrera was injured running out a 5th inning ground ball in last night’s 7-4 loss in Yankee Stadium. For the season he is hitting .254 (52-205) with 28 runs, 18 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs and 25RBI in 53 games. He currently leads the team and is tied for 4th in the AL in doubles (18) and tied for 12th in the league in extra base hits (team-high 25). He also owns a 33-game errorless streak.
Diaz has spent the entire season to date at shortstop for the Clippers and is hitting .211 (40-19) with 8 2B, 4HR & 18 RBI in 52 games. He is hitting .231 (34-147) off RHP. He will be making his 2013 Major League debut wearing #35.
