Indians recall Cord Phelps, send down Omir Santos

The Indians made some roster moves, recalling Cord Phelps to the major-league roster today among them. The team sent catcher Omir Santos to Triple-A Columbus and outrighted right-hander Robert Whitenack to the Double-A Aeros.

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League and 40-man rosters:

Recalled INF CORD PHELPS from AAA Columbus

Optioned CA OMIR SANTOS to Columbus

Outrighted RHP ROBERT WHITENACK to AA Akron

                Phelps began the year on the Minor League DL (neck stiffness) and has appeared in two games for the Clippers at second base since his April 14 activation (1-8, RS, 2B, RBI, BB). He is coming off a spring exhibition season where he hit .375 (18-48) with 4 doubles, 1 triple, 3HR & 7RBI in 23 games (1.143OPS). He wears #46.
