GOODYEAR, Ariz.: After struggling in his past two starts, Josh Tomlin redeemed himself Friday tonight, as the Indians lost to the Angels 4-1 at Goodyear Ballpark.
Tomlin pitched five innings and gave up two runs, six hits and one walk, striking out three.
On the negative side, he gave up a towering solo home run to Kendrys Morales in the second inning, but he limited the damage to one run after loading the bases with nobody out in the third.
In his previous two outings, Tomlin allowed 10 earned runs (13 total), 18 hits and no walks in seven innings. He gave up a homer in each start.
David Huff took over in the sixth and pitched three innings, giving up two runs and three hits. Huff finished strong by reitiring the side in order in the eighth, striking out two.
Cristian Guzman left the game in the first with a leg injury after making a dash to second on Shin-Soo Choo's single.
