Roster moves a plenty remained the popular theme of the day for the Indians once again Monday after catcher Yan Gomes rejoined the team a day early from paternity leave.

While the Indians were no doubt thrilled to have their starting catcher back in the fold after Gomes and his wife Jenna welcomed their first child – a baby girl named Brooklyn Mae – activating Gomes meant a corresponding roster move was necessary to make room on the Tribe’s 25 man roster. Thus, Indians veteran designated hitter Jason Giambi was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain.

More roster moves are in store before Tuesday’s game as well, as Triple-A pitcher Josh Tomlin is slated to start for Indians in the rotation spot recently vacated by Carlos Carrasco’s move to the bullpen. This is pure speculation at this point, but the odd man out come Tuesday’s necessary roster moves is likely Triple-A catcher George Kottaras, who was called up Saturday for catching depth with Gomes temporary departure.
