Jimenez declines Tribe qualifying offer

By Sheldon Ocker Published: November 11, 2013

As expected, Ubaldo Jimenez turned down the Indians' qualifying offer of a one-year, $14 million contract, choosing free agency instead.

Under baseball rules, the Tribe had to make the offer to preserve its rights to receive a draft pick between the first and second round if Jimneez signs with another team.

Jimenez, 29, turned around his career this year by compiling  13-9 record and 3.30 ERA.
