Kluber goes on DL with sprained finger

By Sheldon Ocker Published: August 6, 2013

CLEVELAND: As the announcement was made at 6:40 p.m. that Corey Kluber is headed to the disabled list, right-hander Matt Langwell was driving north on I-71 from Coumbus to join the Tribe.

Kluber will be sidelined for at least 15 days With a sprained right middle finger. No further details were given, but apparently the injury is similar to the one that landed Zach McAllister on the DL for seven weeks.

After throwing 7 1/3 innings Monday night, neither Kluber nor club officials mentioned the injury. The fact that Langwell was summoned so late in the day would indicate that Kluber's problem did not come to light until today.

Langwell  has a 3-3 record with two saves and a 2.46 ERA in 34 appearances with the Clippers. In two stints pitching in the Indians' bullpen, he is 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA in five appearances.

Another roster move will be made Wednesday to enable Danny Salazar to officially join the team for his start against the Tigers.
