HOUSTON: Brett Myers is out of the rotation because of an elbow/flexor tendon injury, and Corey Kluber is in.
After announcing to the media folllowing his start Friday night that he had been pitching with a sore flexor tendon since spring training, manager Terry Francona said Myers would fly back to Cleveland today for tests.
His specific problem has not been revealed, but he will spend at least 15 days on the disabled list.
That put Kluber, who pitched four innings of two-hit relief Saturday night, into the rotation. He will start Wednesday against the White Sox.
To take Kluber's place in the bullpen, Fernando Nieve has been called up from Columbus. WIth the Clippers, Nieve made three appearances, including one start, posting a 1.38 ERA in 13 innings.
