Lofton back in camp

By Sheldon Published: March 17, 2011

GOODYEAR, ARIZ.: Kenny Lofton returned to camp for the second time this spring to help educate players on the art of playing the outfield and running the bases.

The former Tribe All-Star was here earlier and spent a week instructing players and telling stores. Lofton will remain in camp through Sunday.

Interesting lineup inclusions today: Jack Hannahan at third and Adam Everett at short. Two players to watch.

Remember Jason Davis? He was a lanky, hard-throwing right-hander who pitched for the Indians on and off from 2002 to 2007. He threw for Tribe player development officials Wednesday, trying to land a job.

The Indians never could figure out whether Davis should start or relieve, which didn't help his career. After leaving the Cleveland organization, Davis pitched briefly for the Mariners and Pirates, his last big-league performance coming in 2008.

He spent 2009 at Pittsburgh's Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis, where he was 0-8 with a 6.06 earned-run averge in 35 appearances, seven of them starts.

During the off day Wenesday, Luke Carlin, Frank Herrmann, Justin Masterson and Vinnie Pestano visited with patients and their families at the Cancer Treatment Center Hospital in Goodyear.
