Masterson in elite company

By Sheldon Ocker Published: July 2, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo.: Justin Masterson is the fifth major-league pitcher in the past 19 seasons to win at least 10 games and have three complete-game shutouts before the All-Star break.

The other four: Greg Maddux in 1998 with the Braves, Dontrelle WIllis in 2005 with the Marlins, Chris Carpenter in 2005 with the Cardinals and Roy Halladay in 2010 with the Phillies.

The last Tribe pitcher to accomplish the feat before Masterson was Gaylore Perry, who  went 15-3 with three shutouts before the All-Star Game.
