Masterson's no-hit bid stopped after six

By Sheldon Ocker Published: July 21, 2013

MINNEAPOLIS: Justin Masterson had a no hitter going against the Twins after six innings, but Brian Dozier doubled to center field to lead off the seventh.

Breaking his bat on the pitch, Dozier hit a lazy looping fly to shallow center. Drew Stubbs, trying to save the no-hitter, made a headlong dive for the ball, but it got past him, and Dozier ended up on second.

He took third on Chris Herrmann's ground out to the right side and scored when Jason Kipnis muffed Joe Mauer's ground ball for an error.

The Indians still led 6-1 after the Twins batted in the seventh.
