McAllister ready to go out on rehab assignment

By Sheldon Ocker Published: July 10, 2013

CLEVELAND: Zach McAllister (finger injury) will make his first rehab appearance at Akron on Saturday night then pitch some time next week at an undetermined site.

“”He has a chance to go four innings in his first outing,’’ manager Terry Francona said. “”He won’t throw any curveballs. But he can do that in his bullpens. In his second rehab game, he will throw curveballs.’’

If McAllister suffers no setbacks, it is likely he will return to the rotation a few days after the All-Star break.

“”Everything has been great,’’ Francona said of McAllister’s progress.
