No DL for Swisher; Kipnis, Kluber co-AL Players of Week

By Sheldon Ocker Published: June 17, 2013

CLEVELAND: Nick Swisher underwent an MRI scan Sunday and doctors found no major problems in his right shoulder, which means he probably will return to the lineup in a few days.

""Swish was examined yesterday; he was scanned,'' manager Terry Franfcona said this afternoon. ""It came back showing no change, which is good. He got a shot today, so he'll be down a couple of days with that.''

After the Tribe completes its three-game set with the Royals Wednesday night, the team will be off Thursday.

""Maybe can come back Friday,'' Francona said. ""We'll see how he feels then,''

Jawon Kipnis and Corey Kluber have been named co-Players of the Week in the American League.

Kluber posted a 2-0 record and 0.56 ERA in wins over Texas and Washington. Kipnis led the majors in batting average (.524) and on-base percentage (.593) last week and drove in four runs and scored five in six games.

Earlier in the season, Justin Masterson and Ryan Raburn won Player of the Week honors..
