Offense racking up negative milestones

By Sheldon Ocker Published: April 28, 2013

KANSAS CITY: The Tribe's 9-0 loss to the Royals in the first game of today's doublehader extended some negative achievements for the offense.

The Indians have scored three or fewer runs in 14 of 21 games and one or fewer runs in five games. In addition, Cleveland has scored in only two of the past 28 innings.

“”We certainly hope to find ways to get better, but those types of stats aren’t going to help us score in the second game,’’ manager Terry Francona said.
Jeremy Guthrie, the winning pitcher in Game 1, tied a franchise record by going unbeaten in 16 consecutive starts, dating to August 8 of 2012.

Guthrie's record over this span is 8-0 with eight no-decisions. His team's record during these starts is 14-2. Guthrie was the Tribe's first-round pick in the 2002 draft.
