Pestano to minors to make room for Rzepczynski

By Sheldon Ocker Published: July 30, 2013

CLEVELAND:  After tonight's 7-4 win over the White Sox when most of the media had left the clubhouse, there were reports of Vinnie Pestano being hugged and saying his goodbyes to teammates.

That mean he either had been traded or was being sent to Triple-A to make room for the club's newest acquisition, left-handed reliever Marc Rzepczynski.

A club official said that Pestano had not been traded, which left only one other choice.

Pestano has been the Indians' lights-out closer until this year, when an elbow injury and possibly just a slump forced manager Terry Francona to remove him from that role.
