Radinsky new Tribe pitching coach

By Sheldon Published: October 14, 2011

The Indians filled their three coaching vacancies today by promoting from within, including naming Scott Radinsky pitching coach as a replacement for Tim Belcher, who resigned to spend more time with his family.

In addition, Dave Miller has been named bullpen coach, replacing Radinsky, and Tom Wiedenbauer is the new first base coach, succeeding Sandy Alomar, who will take over as manager Manny Acta's bench coach.  Alomar replaces Tim Tolman, who retired because of health problems.

Radinsky, 43, was the club's bullpen coach for the past two seasons and has receives much of the credit for developing the Indians' successful bullpen, which compiled a 3.71 earned-run average this year, fifth lowest in the American League.

Weidenbauer, 52, will coach the outfielders and become the team's baserunning instructor, in addition to coaching first. He joined the organization this year as field coordinator, organizing and supervising activity in the Tribe's player development system.
