Recollections from Omar

By Sheldon Ocker Published: July 6, 2013

CLEVELAND: Two stories from Omar Vizquel, who is in town as part of the Indians' alumni weekend series.

Asked to pick his favorite story about Albert Belle and Manny Ramirez, Vizquel said it was difficult to pick one, but he told these:

"""Albert went 4-for-4 one game but popped out to the second baseman in his last at-bat. He was really mad. When he went in the clubhouse, he turned over the table with the food and broke all the dishes.

""I remember another game when Manny was on first and somebody hit a line drive to right field. It looked like it might be a hit, but it was caugut. Manny was all the way  around second heading for third, and now everyone is yelling at him to go back to first. He starts running and cuts right across the pitcher's mound on his way to first, so of course he was out.''
