Santana's ""good'' slump; Cabrera playing hurt

By Sheldon Ocker Published: May 30, 2013

CLEVELAND: You won't hear manager Terry Francona complaining about Carlos Santana's May batting slump.

Santana had a torrid April, batting .,389 with nine doubles, five home runs and 13 RBI. This month, he has batted only .204 with three homers and 10 RBI.

""Catching takes something out of your body,'' Francona said. ""What he's done offensively is phenomenal, even with a cold month.''

Overall, Santana's numbers prove the truth of Francona's statement: .285 average, 13 doubles, eight home runs and 22 RBI.

Asdrubal Cabrera has been playing the past two weeks with a sore quad, which is why he spent last Sunday's game in Boston as the DH.
