Some notes after Indians 8-3 loss to KC

By Stephanie Storm Published: August 1, 2012

* Not only did the Indians lose their fourth consecutive game Tuesday night in the first of a three-game series at Kansas City, the 8-3 loss may have signaled the end of veteran Derek Lowe's run in Cleveland.

* Although manager Manny Acta said he "wouldn't make any knee-jerk reactions", he admitted the Tribe brass would sit down soon and consider other option.

* Also, with Josh Tomlin being moved to the bullpen (he pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief of Lowe), Acta said the plan is for the former starter to stay in the 'pen for the foreseable future.

* Meanwhile, Acta confirmed Triple-A RHP Corey Kluber would be called up to take Tomlin's spot in the rotation starting Thursday. Last season he made three relief appearances for the Tribe in his major league debut.

* So far on this road trip, Tribe startin pitchers are 0-4 with a meaty 13.75 ERA. Yikes. It's up to Zach McAllister to stop the bleeding in Wednesday's game. He is slated to face Royals RHP Luis Mendoza.
