Washington Nationals rookie righht-hander Stephen Strasburg will face the Indians on Sunday as the Nationals head to Cleveland Friday for a three-game weekend series.
The fact that the 21-year old was in line to pitch Sunday has been rumored for a week, since news that he was being called up began to spread.
But once it was confirmed Wednesday morning - after he struck out 14 Pittsburgh Pirates in his major league debut Tuesday night - ticket sales for Saunday's game at Progressive Field began going through the roof.
According to an Indians text Wednesday, 4,000 tickets for Sunday's game had been sold in the last week, including 1,400 since Tuesday and another 1,000 by midnight Tuesday after Strasburg wrapped up a 5-2 victory over the Pirates.
Strasburg, of course, was the No. 1 pick in last year's MLB draft, signing with the Nationals a record $15.1 million contract.
