Tribe acquires veteran infielder John McDonald

   ARLINGTON, Texas: The Indians tonight acquired middle infielder John McDOnald from the Pirates for a player to be named and/or cash.

   To make room on the 40-man roster, right-hander Brett Myers (elbow inflammation) was transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL. Another move will be made before Tuesday night's game to get McDonald on the 25-man roster.

   McDonald, 38, appeared in 16 games for Pittsburgh before going on on the 15-day DL May 15 with a pain in his back and inflammation in his right elbow.

   He is btting .265 through 10 games while rehabbing at  Indianapolis, the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate. 

    McDonald was drafted by the Tribe and came up through the club's farm system, He spent seven big-league seasons with the Indians.
