The Indians signed Nyjer Morgan to a minor-league contract and have given him a spring training invitation, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reported on Twitter Tuesday night, citing Morgan as his source.
The Indians have not confirmed the signing of the speedy outfielder.
Morgan, 33, spent last season in Japan, where he hit .294/.361/.434 with 11 home runs and 50 RBI for Yokohama in Japan’s Central League.
Morgan last played in the major leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2012. He is a career .280 hitter after six number of years in the major leagues with the Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the 33rd round of the 2002 draft.
