By Sheldon Ocker Published: June 24, 2013

BALTIMORE:  General Manager Chris Antonetti and his lieutenants figured out a way to add a reliever to the bullpen without lopping a player off the roster long term.

T.J. House, a starter at Columbus, was summoned from Triple-A today and will work out of the bullpen.

The second move was to option Carlos Carrasco to Columbus but bring him back on his regular day to pitch to start one game of Friday'a makeup doubleheader with the White Sox in Chicago.

Until the new basic agreement, Carrasco would have had to stay in the minors for 10 days before returning, but he is eligible to be the 26th player that teams can now add for doubleheaders.

""Carlos is eligible to pitch in the doublehader if he is the 26th man,'' manager Terry Francona said. ""Then we can option him back and call him up for his next start.''

Carrasco will return to Triple-A after that start to finish the rest of his 10-day mandatory stay at Columbus then be recalled without missilng his next start.

Who will pitch the other game of the doubleheader? Though no official announcement has been made, Trevor Bauer will be summoned to start that game.
