By Sheldon Ocker Published: March 25, 2013

GOODYEAR, Ariz.: The Indians set their 25-man roster today, but it won't stay that way for long.

The everyday players include Nick Swisher at first, Jason Kipnis at second. Asdrubal Cabrera at short, Lonnie Chisenhall at third plus outfielders Michael Brantley, Michael Bourn and Drew Stubbs  in addition to Mark Reynolds at designated hitter.

For little more than a week, the bench will consist of Lou Marson, Ryan Raburn and Mike Aviles. Jason Giambi is starting the season on the 15-day disabled list with a sore back so that an exrtra reliever can fortify the bullpen. Why? The Indians play 22 times in the first 23 days of the season. Giambi can come off the DL April 9.

The bullpen is made up of Chris Perez, Vinnie Pestano, Joe Smith, Cody Allen, Nick Hagadone, Bryan Shaw, Matt Albers and RIch Hill.

The rotation will include Justin Masterson, Ubaldo JImenez, Zach McAllister, Brett Myers and Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco is being aqdded to the roster to serve a six-day wuspension dating to 2011, before he went down with an elbow injuyr.

After the first six games of the season, Carrasco will be optioned to Columbus and Scott Kazmir will take his place in the rotaiton.
